How to create a Youtube Channel and set it up correctly

April 6th, 2022

What is a "YouTube Channel"? A YouTube channel is an account's collection of videos, playlists, and other content. Anyone can create a YouTube channel. Some examples of channels are artists' channels, gaming channels, cooking channels… the list goes on! Why should I start one? The best way to get benefit out of your own YouTube Channel is to be able to promote yourself or your work (rightfully!). For instance, musicians can use their channel to share their music; filmmakers can post behind-the-scenes clips... the list goes on again! How do I start one? In order to get started with creating a YouTube Channel, follow these steps:

1. First, sign in with your Google Account (or create one if you don't already have one).

2. Go to youtube.com/channel_switcher

3. Click "Create a new channel"

4. Follow the on-screen prompts for title and description

5. Once you're happy with your settings, click "Create channel"

6. Add some additional pages that describe your content

7. You can change any of these settings later, so don't worry about getting it just right at first! After you have set up your channel, it's time to get started!

What are the best practices for setting up a YouTube Channel? In terms of what settings and features should be used when creating a YouTube Channel, there is no perfect answer. However, the following tips may help you get an idea:

- Channel art: Your channel art is the header image that appears in search results and across YouTube on desktops; we recommend uploading an image at a 16:9 ratio (like 1280 x 720) and selecting "No background" in order to make content pop against a white backdrop.

- Community settings: Some people like to enable community features such as comments and sharing when they first launch their channel; others prefer to do it later or not at all. - Channel icon: This is the image that appears in the top left corner of a video and next to all of your other content; we recommend uploading an image at 32 x 32 pixels with rounded corners for best results, but you can change it at any time by clicking "edit" under your profile photo on YouTube

- About section: It's important to add relevant and meaningful information about yourself or your work so people know what they're watching when they click into your channel; you can update this information at any time by clicking "edit"

- Sharing options: It's a great idea to enable email notifications so people can sign up for alerts when you upload new content or share videos on social media; you can also choose who sees your channel's activity by selecting the right setting under Community settings.

- Community guidelines: It's essential that you read through YouTube's community guidelines when you start a channel in order to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
